Dream Dec 15, 2007
Six school-aged kids played Chess games on a table.
There were six chairs.
One player at the table was a young Hikaru Nakamura.
Sat down at the table to play a quick friendly game or just to watch.
Being the 7th player at the table I assumed I'd be feel awkward and probally have to sit out.
One of the kids at the table remarked, "Oh, Its your turn to play Him."
They seemed relieved to pass on the chance to play another game.
I sat down at the table and said to Hikaro, "Hello Grandmaster... ......Nakamura"
The pause between 'GM' and "Nakamura" belied my doubt of his title being he was just a youth at a Chess club.
I thought to myself,
"He may be a GrandMaster and a little better at Chess then me. But, This is a Fast speed game. He won't have time to recall his extensive knowledge in just a few minutes. I stand a chance, Maybe 50/50."
I sit down excited to begin to play ** Dream Fades **
Moral/Conclusion
Dreams allow us to envision the impossible.
For a few moments, I truly believe I could defeat an amazing Chess player.
An irrational belief in ourselves helps us take actions which make impossible tasks doable, in small steps.
Oh, Its your turn to play Him." Those kids were tired of getting beat. ^^
History
The night before the dream spent watching "Smallville" Nakamura's online Chess acct. winning only 1/50 games against a powerful Chess computer. Though Nakamura's moves were expert, due to time constraints, sometimes they were losing for only a single tactical reason on move 30+.
Watching the computer win might have given my subconscious a false sense that anyone playing GMs can win.
